71.3.4. Before filing an application for an order of placement, the director must inform the child, the parents or tutor and the adopters(1) of the characteristics of adoptions made with or without recognition of a pre-existing bond of filiation;
(2) of the possibility of providing for exchanges of information or maintaining or developing personal relations in accordance with article 579 of the Civil Code for the term of the placement and after the adoption; and
(3) of the rules relating to research into family and medical antecedents and to reunions.
In addition, the director must offer support services to the adopter, adoptee and members of the family of origin who wish to provide for exchanges of information or maintain or develop personal relations in accordance with article 579 of the Civil Code before the order of placement is made.
Where only exchanges of information are provided for, the director shall, at the parties’ request, facilitate those exchanges until the adoptee reaches full age. However, the director shall cease to act at the request of one of the parties.
