20. To quantify the avoided CH4 emissions attributable to the project, the promoter must use Equation 2:
Equation 2: Calculation of avoided CH4 emissions attributable to the project
CH4 avoided =(BE – PE) × GWPCH4
Where:
CH4avoided = Avoided CH4 emissions attributable to the project, in metric tonnes CO2 equivalent;
BE = CH4 emissions in the baseline scenario, calculated using Equation 3, in metric tonnes;
PE = CH4 emissions in the project scenario, calculated using Equation 8, in metric tonnes;
GWPCH4 = Global warming potential of CH4, taken from Schedule A.1 to the Regulation respecting mandatory reporting of certain emissions of contaminants into the atmosphere (chapter Q-2, r. 15).
