27. A municipality may, by municipal by-law made under the Act respecting land use planning and development (chapter A-19.1), prohibit the spreading of animal waste, farm compost, mineral fertilizer and fertilizing waste substances in defined portions of the supply area of a catchment work supplying a drinking water distribution system if the nitrate concentration in water from a groundwater catchment site exceeds 5 mg/L for 2 consecutive tests carried out within the scope of the periodic testing provided for in the Regulation respecting the quality of drinking water (chapter Q-2, r. 40).
