Act respecting the Conseil d’artisanat

1. A Conseil d’artisanat du Québec is instituted by this act.

2. Such Conseil shall study the best means of developing handicrafts in Québec, recommend the appropriate steps to ensure the co-ordination of activities respecting handicrafts and report its findings to the Minister of Cultural Affairs.

3. Such Conseil may:
(a)  constitute a guidance committee and study committees chosen from among its members;
(b)  make by-laws for its internal government.

4. The by-laws of the Conseil for its internal government or for the forming of committees shall not come into force until approved by the Government.
Notice of such approval shall be published in the Gazette officielle du Québec.

5. The Conseil shall consist of not more than fifteen persons appointed by the Government for three years.
Any vacancy shall be filled for the unexpired part of the term of office of the member to be replaced. The members of the Conseil shall be reeligible.

6. The members of the Conseil shall receive no remuneration. They shall be indemnified for their travelling and living expenses incurred in the performance of their duties.

7. The Government may appoint, in accordance with the Public Service Act (chapter F-3.1.1), a permanent secretary of the Conseil.

8. The Minister of Cultural Affairs may convene special meetings of the Conseil in addition to those which it must hold under the by-laws by which it is governed.

9. This Act shall operate notwithstanding the provisions of sections 2 and 7 to 15 of the Constitution Act, 1982 (Schedule B of the Canada Act, chapter 11 in the 1982 volume of the Acts of the Parliament of the United Kingdom).

REPEAL SCHEDULE

In accordance with section 17 of the Act respecting the consolidation of the statutes (chapter R-3), chapter 200 of the Revised Statutes, 1964, in force on 31 December 1977, is repealed effective from the coming into force of chapter C-56 of the Revised Statutes.
