Order respecting the application of the Act respecting reciprocal enforcement of maintenance orders
Act respecting reciprocal enforcement of maintenance orders
(chapter E-19, s. 10).
1. The Act respecting reciprocal enforcement of maintenance orders (chapter E-19) applies to judgments ordering payment of maintenance rendered in Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, from and after, for each of those provinces, the adoption of an order applying an Act of the same nature, in force in the province concerned, to judgments rendered in Québec ordering payment of maintenance.

2. The Act respecting reciprocal enforcement of maintenance orders (chapter E-19) applies to judgments ordering payment of maintenance rendered in Newfoundland, from and after 29 November 1960.

5. The Act respecting reciprocal enforcement of maintenance orders (chapter E-19) applies to judgments ordering payment of maintenance rendered in Alberta, from and after 1 March 1971.

6. Judicial decisions ordering payment of maintenance rendered in Québec and in the State of New York in favour of children and spouses may be enforced respectively in the State of New York and in Québec in accordance with the legislation concerning the reciprocal enforcement of maintenance orders.
Québec and the State of New York are to mutually inform each other of amendments made to their respective legislation concerning the reciprocal enforcement of maintenance orders.
This agreement remains in force indefinitely. It may be terminated by either party on 6 months’ notice in writing to the other party. Proceedings underway at the time of termination shall continue until a final settlement, despite the termination.

7. The Act respecting reciprocal enforcement of maintenance orders (chapter E-19) applies to judgments ordering payment of maintenance rendered in Saskatchewan, from and after 1 September 1987.

9. The Act respecting reciprocal enforcement of maintenance orders (chapter E-19) applies to judgments ordering payment of maintenance rendered in the Northwest Territories, from and after 23 August 1989.

10. The Act respecting reciprocal enforcement of maintenance orders (chapter E-19) applies to judgments ordering payment of maintenance rendered in the States of California, Florida, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, from and after 9 March 1994.

11. The Act respecting reciprocal enforcement of maintenance orders (chapter E-19) applies to judgments ordering payment of maintenance rendered in Nunavut and in the State of Maine, from and after 23 June 1999.

12. Vermont is designated in accordance with section 10 of the Act respecting reciprocal enforcement of maintenance orders (chapter E-19).

13. New Hampshire and Oregon are designated in accordance with section 10 of the Act respecting reciprocal enforcement of maintenance orders (chapter E-19).
