Regulation concerning the exchange of driver’s licences between the Gouvernement du Québec and the Gouvernement de la République française
Highway Safety Code
(chapter C-24.1, s. 554).
1. A person holding a valid driver’s licence of Category B issued by the competent authorities in France, who settles in Québec, may exchange that licence, without examination, for a driver’s licence of Class 42 issued by the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec, on payment of the duties prescribed by regulation of the Government and the Société and of the amount fixed under section 151 of the Automobile Insurance Act (chapter A-25).

2. For the purposes of section 1, the driver’s licence of Category B is a licence which authorizes its holder to drive a motor vehicle, with the exception of a motorcycle, weighing up to 3,500 kg loaded, either used for the transport of persons and having, in addition to the driver’s seat, a maximum of 8 places seated, or used for the carriage of goods.
