180. (1)  In each polling-subdivision the returning-officer shall appoint as deputy returning-officer the person recommended for such purpose by the government party candidate or, failing such candidate, by the person designated for such purpose by the Prime Minister, and as poll-clerk the person recommended for such purpose by the official opposition candidate or, failing such candidate, by the person designated for such purpose by the leader of the official opposition.
(2)  Each of such two candidates or, should the case arise, the person designated for such purpose by the Prime Minister or the leader of the official opposition must, on the day following nomination, supply the returning-officer, the former with a list of the persons whom he recommends as deputy returning-officers and the latter with a list of the persons whom he recommends as poll-clerks.
