252. If the animal is not claimed within 24 hours following such special notice, or if the owner thereof is unknown or does not reside in the municipality, the pound-keeper must, under the same penalty, give public notice, in which is set forth the species and color of the animal, the place where it was found straying, and the name of the place where it is impounded; and he must further announce its sale by auction on a day fixed, unless such animal is reclaimed by its owner upon payment of all expenses, fines, fees and costs incurred, as well as such damages as may be agreed upon, or as are determined according to article 262.
