Act to proclaim Québec Perinatal Bereavement Awareness Day
AS, each year, nearly 23,000 families in Québec are affected by the loss of a child during pregnancy, childbirth or the early postnatal period;
AS Québec society remains largely unaware of perinatal bereavement despite the prevalence of perinatal deaths and their psychosocial impacts;
AS, in Québec, elsewhere in Canada and internationally, several civil society stakeholders and States already recognize 15 October as the day for perinatal bereavement awareness;
AS it is appropriate to show support to families affected by perinatal bereavement and to raise awareness about this reality among Quebecers;
THE PARLIAMENT OF QUÉBEC ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. The fifteenth day of October is proclaimed Québec Perinatal Bereavement Awareness Day.
