5. The Régie’s mission is to monitor Québec’s energy sector and to ensure a balance between the public interest, the protection of consumers situated in Québec and fair treatment of the electric power carrier and of distributors. Its mission is also to inform consumers.
In the exercise of its functions and powers, the Régie must promote the meeting of energy needs, an orderly energy transition at the lowest cost, innovation, and the maximizing of the economic, social and environmental benefits of energy for Quebecers in compliance with the policy directions and with a view to achieving the objectives and targets established by the integrated energy resource management plan referred to in section 14.2 of the Act respecting the Ministère de l’Économie, de l’Innovation et de l’Énergie (chapter M-14.1) as well as in compliance with the Government’s other energy policies, in keeping with the principles of sustainable development and individual and collective equity.

5. In the exercise of its functions, the Régie shall reconcile the public interest, consumer protection and the fair treatment of the electric power carrier and of distributors. It shall promote the satisfaction of energy needs in a manner consistent with the Government’s energy policy objectives and in keeping with the principles of sustainable development and individual and collective equity.

5. In the exercise of its functions, the Régie shall reconcile the public interest, consumer protection and the fair treatment of the electric power carrier and of distributors. It shall promote the satisfaction of energy needs through sustainable development and with due regard for equity both on the individual and collective planes.

5. In the exercise of its functions, the Régie shall promote the satisfaction of energy needs through sustainable development. To that end, the Régie shall have due regard for economic, social and environmental concerns and for equity both on the individual and collective planes. The Régie shall also foster the conciliation of the public interest, consumer protection and the fair treatment of distributors.
