For the purpose of determining whether training is equivalent to that acquired by holders of diplomas recognized by the Government, the board of directors will examine only the files of candidates who have earned a university diploma upon completion of studies in a program in which chemistry was a major subject.

A candidate shall be entitled to a training equivalence if he demonstrates that he possesses knowledge equivalent to that acquired in earning a university diploma requiring a minimum of 55 credits in chemistry, including at least 18 credits in laboratory work and 30 credits in theory courses. His file must comprise:

at least 12 credits in physical chemistry;
2
°
at least 12 credits in organic chemistry;
3
°
at least 9 credits in analytical chemistry;
4
°
either a minimum of 9 credits in inorganic chemistry or a minimum of 9 credits in biochemistry, or a minimum of 12 credits in those two subjects together.

To ascertain whether a candidate possesses the knowledge required under section 2, the board of directors will take into account:

°
the nature of the diplomas earned by the candidate;
2
°
the number and nature of the courses the candidate was able to take;
3
°
the nature and duration of any training period the candidate was able to participate in beyond the mandatory requirements;
4
°
the total number of years of schooling; and
5
°
the nature and duration of work experience.

Where so required by the board of directors, a candidate shall provide proof in support of his statements.

Where no decision can be reached on the basis of an evaluation of the data required under sections 3 and 4, the board of directors may prescribe one or more examinations to complete the evaluation.

Where an evaluation made by the board of directors shows a gap in the candidate’s training, the Bureau may prescribe one or more courses to complete the training.

A candidate shall pay the costs the board of directors sets by resolution under paragraph 8 of section 86.0.1 of the Professional Code (chapter C-26).
