19. No married woman separate as to property shall carry on trade until she has delivered to the prothonotary of the district in which she intends to carry on trade a declaration in writing, stating such intention, her name in full and that of her husband, and the firm name under which she proposes carrying on such business. Such declaration shall be entered and transcribed in the same register as declarations concerning partnerships mentioned in sections 9 and following.
Any married woman separate as to property and carrying on trade who fails to comply with the requirements of this section shall be liable to a fine of one hundred dollars, which may be recovered, before any court of competent civil jurisdiction, by the Attorney General in the name of Her Majesty or by any legally constituted board of trade, and the fine shall belong to the Crown to form part of the consolidated revenue fund of Québec.
