116. Subject to Sentence 4 of Articles to of the National Building Code 1990, air cooling or ventilation ducts linked to heating, cooling or ventilation equipment located outside the insulated portion of the building must be equipped with power-assisted dampers located near the insulated portion and designed to close automatically when the system is not in operation.
Where the heating, cooling or ventilation equipment is insulated, the dampers prescribed in the first paragraph may be replaced by power-assisted dampers located at the supply and exhaust air openings of the equipment.
