18. A public house or pub permit and a tavern permit entitle the holder to sell beer and weak cider for consumption on the premises.
Such permits may also entitle the holder to provide music in any room indicated in the permit, but not to present spectacles.
A public house or pub, within the meaning of this act, is a place arranged for the consumption of beer and weak cider and open to both male and female persons. A tavern is a place arranged for the consumption of beer and weak cider, open only to male persons, subject to section 19.
Such permits may be used in a hotel or motel and, when the building occupied by the establishment is wholly or partly situated in a municipality having a population of more than two thousand souls, may also be used in an establishment specified in the permit.
