174. A telephone appearance service under the Criminal Code (Revised Statutes of Canada, 1985, chapter C-46) must be provided without interruption on weekends, holidays and on weekdays outside business hours.
This service shall be provided, in particular, by presiding justices of the peace.

174. No sheriff in the districts of Québec or Montréal shall, under the penalties aforesaid, act as a justice of the peace for the district wherein he is sheriff, while he holds such office; and every act so done by such sheriff, as a justice of the peace, shall be absolutely void.
No coroner in Québec shall, under the penalties aforesaid, act as a justice of the peace in cases arising out of facts which have been the subject of an investigation or an inquest held by him; and every act so done by such coroner shall be absolutely void.
