Section 37 Disposition versions

37. From publication of the list of electoral divisions in the Gazette officielle du Québec, the annual enumeration provided for in the Election Act (chapter E-3.2) shall be conducted on the basis of the new electoral divisions.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, where the annual enumeration occurs before the expiry of three months from publication of the list of electoral divisions in the Gazette officielle du Québec, the enumeration, instead of being held in the annual enumeration period prescribed in the Election Act, shall be held within six months after that period.

37. From publication of the list of electoral divisions in the Gazette officielle du Québec, the annual enumeration provided for in the Election Act (chapter E-3.2) shall be conducted on the basis of the new electoral divisions.

The holding of the annual enumeration cannot be cancelled except by an Act the introduction of which must be preceded by a resolution approved by a majority of the members of each parliamentary group within the meaning of the Standing Orders of the National Assembly.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, where the annual enumeration occurs before the expiry of three months from publication of the list of electoral divisions in the Gazette officielle du Québec, the enumeration, instead of being held in the annual enumeration period prescribed in the Election Act, shall be held within six months after that period.

37. The enumeration comtemplated in section 36 shall be in lieu of the enumeration provided for in the Election Act (chapter E-3.2) that does not take place in that year; the enumeration for the following year shall be conducted while taking into account the new electoral divisions published in the Gazette officielle du Québec.

37. As soon as the enumeration period contemplated in section 36 begins, the period of annual enumeration provided by the Act respecting electoral lists which has begun or which immediately follows, as the case may be, shall be cancelled, and that of the following year, if it takes place, shall be conducted while taking into account the new electoral divisions published in the Gazette officielle du Québec.
