1. In this Act, the following expressions and words mean:
(a)  university establishment :
(1)  any of the educational institutions at the university level contemplated in paragraphs 1 to 11 of section 1 of the Act respecting educational institutions at the university level (chapter E-14.1);
(2)  (subparagraph repealed);
(3)  (subparagraph repealed);
(4)  any legal person whose object is to build and administer residences for students at the university level;
(b)  investment : any capital expenditure or expenditure for equipment, including the purchase price of furniture, fittings and tools or a library collection;
(c)  Minister : the Minister of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology.

As regards higher education, the functions of the Minister of Education, Recreation and Sports provided for in this Act are assigned to the Minister of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology. Order in Council 878-2012 dated 20 September 2012, (2012) 144 G.O. 2 (French), 4872.

(2)  any faculty, school or institute of any of the universities mentioned in subparagraph 1 which is managed by a corporation separate from that which administers the university;
(3)  any establishment of higher education affiliated with, incorporated in or annexed to a university contemplated in subparagraph 1;
(4)  any corporation whose object is to build and administer residences for students at the university level;
(b)  investment : any capital expenditure or expenditure for equipment, including the purchase price of furniture, fittings and tools or a library collection;
(c)  Minister : the Minister of Higher Education and Science.
