540. (Repealed).

540. On receiving the nomination paper, the returning officer shall examine it and declare whether he considers it valid or not, and shall enter thereon over his signature the word “accepted” or the word “rejected”.
Such writing may then be corrected or replaced by another if the delay for nomination of candidates has not expired.
