536. The Act respecting school elections (chapter E-2.3) applies to the division of the territory of the school board into electoral divisions and to the election of commissioners.

536. The school municipality of each school board shall be divided, for election purposes, into as many wards as there are school commissioners on the school board.
The school board shall establish by resolution passed before the 1st of July of the school year in which there is a general election, the boundaries, name and number of each ward.
Not in force
Each ward must include a number of electors not varying by more than 25% from the number obtained by dividing the total number of electors by the number of wards.
The description of the boundaries of each ward must be entered in the minute book and shall remain in force for three years; public notice of the list of the wards must be given before the ensuing 15 July.
If the school board fails to fulfil the obligation provided in this section, the Minister may appoint a person to make the division into wards.
No employee of the Council shall be a school commissioner on a school board on the island of Montréal.
