535. Each school board is under the authority of a council of commissioners composed of all the commissioners of the school board and one commissioner representing the parents’ committee for each of the elementary and secondary levels.

535. Each school board shall consist of at least nine and not more than fifteen school commissioners. In addition, each school board consists of one representative elected for each of the elementary and secondary levels in accordance with section 52.1 or the second paragraph of section 544.
The number of school commissioners, to be an odd number in all cases, shall be determined by a resolution passed by each school board and published in the Gazette officielle du Québec before 1 July of the school year in which a general election is held. If a school board fails to determine this number, it shall be fixed at the minimum contemplated in the first paragraph or, as the case may be, at the last number fixed by it.
Such school commissioners shall be elected in accordance with sections 78 to 163 which, subject to section 543, apply mutatis mutandis.

535. Each school board shall consist of at least nine and not more than fifteen school commissioners. In addition, each school board consists of one representative elected for each of the elementary and secondary levels in accordance with section 52.1 or the second paragraph of section 544.
The number of school commissioners, to be an odd number in all cases, shall be determined by a resolution passed by each school board and published in the Gazette officielle du Québec at least four months before the date of the elections. If a school board fails to determine this number, it shall be fixed at the minimum contemplated in the first paragraph or, as the case may be, at the last number fixed by it.
Such school commissioners shall be elected in accordance with sections 78 to 163 which, subject to section 543, apply mutatis mutandis.
Except as provided in section 164, the school commissioners shall remain in office until the day of the general election, which shall be held every three years on the third Sunday in November.
To enable the time of holding the school elections to be brought closer to that of the municipal elections, the Government may, on the recommendation of the Minister, order that the general elections for the school boards be held on a date earlier or later than that provided in the preceding paragraph. In such case, the then current term of the school commissioners shall be accordingly shortened or extended. The order in council adopted for that purpose shall be published forthwith in the Gazette officielle du Québec. In the same order, the Government may change, if need be, the other dates mentioned in sections 39, 86, 88, 89, 110 and 536 to give effect to this paragraph. In cases where such an order is adopted, the term of the commissioners elected at that election and subsequent elections shall be four years.
