134. The voter, on receiving the ballot, shall forthwith proceed into one of the compartments of the polling station. He shall there mark his ballot paper, making a cross with a black lead pencil within the white space containing the name of the candidate for whom he intends to vote; he shall then fold up the ballot paper so that the initials on the back of it and on the counterfoil, affixed by the presiding officer, can be seen without opening it. He shall then hand it to the presiding officer.
The latter shall, without unfolding it, ascertain, by examining his initials, that it is the same which he furnished to the voter; and shall then, in full view of those present, including the voter, remove the counterfoil and destroy it and place the ballot paper in the ballot box, which box shall be placed on the table in full view of those present.
