149. In case of the amalgamation or total annexation of the territories of school service centres, the commissioners of such school service centres, other than the representatives of the parents’ committee, become members of the school service centre’s board of directors of the school board resulting from the amalgamation, or of the annexing school service centre.
However, the Minister may limit the number of commissioners from each school service centre; the members shall, in such a case, be designated by their respective school service centre’s board of directors. Furthermore, only the chair from the school service centre in whose territory the greatest number of electors are resident shall become a member of the school service centre’s board of directors, as chair of that council. However, if more than 12 months remain before the date set for the next general election, an election must be held to fill the office of chair of the council within the time and on the terms prescribed in section 200 of the Act respecting school elections to elect certain members of the boards of directors of English-language school service centres (chapter E-2.3), with the necessary modifications.
They shall remain in office until the date of the next general election of commissioners.
