197. (Repealed).

197. Any surety of the secretary-treasurer, after he is freed from future liability under his bond, or after the secretary-treasurer has ceased to discharge the duties of such office, may exact, from the head of the council, a certificate of discharge for the future. Such certificate, after registration thereof, in the case of hypothecary security, discharges thenceforth the immovables hypothecated by such security-bond.
