147. (1)  The returning officer, when the application is made during the election period, and the clerk, outside such period, shall deliver to any person a copy of or extract from the electoral list on payment of a fee of $.01 for each name of an elector entered thereon to a maximum of $100 for the list of one ward and a maximum of $500 for the list of all the wards.
Every person who is nominated for the office of councillor shall be entitled to obtain free of charge five copies of the list for the ward for which he is a candidate; if such person has already paid fees to obtain one or more copies of the list for the ward for which he is a candidate, he shall be entitled to be reimbursed accordingly.
Every person who is nominated for the office of mayor shall be entitled to obtain free of charge five copies of the electoral list of the municipality; if such person has already paid fees to obtain one or more copies of such list, he shall be entitled to be reimbursed accordingly.
(2)  Every returning officer or clerk who delivers a copy or an extract of a list which he knows not to conform with the original shall be guilty of an offence for which he shall be liable to a fine of not more than $100, and, failing payment, to imprisonment for not more than two months.
