88. The members of the Office other than the chairman are designated by the Members of each party in the following manner:
(1)  five from the Government party;
(2)  four from the party of the Official Opposition or, where there are several opposition parties, three from the Official Opposition party and one from the party among the remaining opposition parties having obtained the greatest number of seats or, in case of equality of seats, from that having obtained the greatest number of valid votes.

88. The members of the Office other than the chairman are designated by the Members of each party in the following manner:

For the duration of the 42nd Legislature, the first paragraph is amended
(1)  by replacing “five” in paragraph 1 by “six”;
(2)  by replacing paragraph 2 by the following paragraph:
(2)  three from the Official Opposition party and one from each of the other opposition parties represented in the Assembly following the 1 October 2018 general election.”.

From 21 December 1994 until the date of dissolution of the 35th Legislature, section 88 shall be read as follows:
“The members of the Office other than the chairman are designated by the Members of each party in the following manner:
(1) five from the Government party;
(2) four from the Official Opposition party or, where there are several parties in opposition at the Assembly, three from the Official Opposition party and one from the party among those remaining having obtained the greatest number of seats in the last general election or, in case of equality of seats, from the party having obtained the greatest number of valid votes.”.
